Every Gelagen Question, Answered
Forty-one questions in six groups, answered as briefly as each one allows. Where an answer needs more room it links to the page that has it.
7 Questions
The Basics
What is Gelagen?
A daily skin supplement in gummy form: sixty strawberry gummies a bottle, two a day, carrying six vitamins with recognised roles in skin, hair and nail health.
Does it contain collagen?
No. It is a vitamin formula. The name causes the question, which is why the answer sits on the front page rather than buried down here.
Is it a medicine?
No. It is a dietary supplement, regulated under food law rather than drug law. It treats nothing and replaces no prescription.
Is it FDA approved?
No supplement is. The badge refers to an FDA-registered manufacturing facility, which means the site can be inspected.
How many gummies in a bottle?
Sixty, which at two a day is one month.
Is it vegetarian?
The gelling agent is pectin, taken from apple and citrus peel, so nothing in the base is animal derived. Check the panel on your bottle if it matters.
Is it gluten free or dairy free?
Whatever is printed on the panel of the bottle in front of you overrides anything written here. A pectin base does not inherently contain either.
8 Questions
Taking It
How many a day?
Two, together, roughly half an hour before breakfast or lunch with a full glass of water.
Morning or evening?
Before a meal. Morning works for most people because breakfast happens at the most consistent hour of the day.
Do I have to chew them?
That is exactly what the format is supposed to do. It also means you notice having taken them, which prevents most missed days.
What if I miss a day?
Take them later that day, or skip and resume tomorrow. Never double up, because of the vitamin A.
Would more work faster?
No. Surplus B vitamins are excreted and vitamin A has a real upper limit. Two is the serving.
How soon does anything show?
Nails around week three. Skin needs a full cycle, so four weeks minimum and twelve weeks for a verdict.
Do I need a break from it?
The label specifies none. For long running use of anything with vitamin A in it, an occasional word with your doctor is sensible.
Can I take it with food?
The label says about half an hour before a meal. Closer to the meal is fine and often helps if it unsettles your stomach.
6 Questions
What Is In It
What are the six vitamins?
Vitamin A, vitamin B6, folate, vitamin B12, biotin and pantothenic acid.
Which one matters most?
Biotin is the one most associated with hair and nails. Vitamin A has the most research behind it in skin science and is also the one with a ceiling.
Is there sugar in it?
There is a small amount, as there has to be in anything set as a gummy. Said plainly on the product page, the safety page and here.
Why pectin rather than gelatin?
One is extracted from fruit peel and the other is rendered from animal collagen. Pectin suits far more people.
Is there hyaluronic acid or collagen?
Neither. If one of those is what you want, buy a product that contains it.
Are the amounts printed?
Vitamins with an established reference intake carry a percent daily value on the bottle. The panel you receive is the authority.
8 Questions
Safety
Is it safe?
For healthy adults with no relevant medication, generally well tolerated. The vitamin A exclusions are the ones that matter.
Can I take it while pregnant?
Not without your doctor agreeing. Vitamin A intake in pregnancy is a genuine medical consideration.
Does it affect blood tests?
The biotin can interfere with several laboratory immunoassays, thyroid and troponin among them. Tell whoever draws your blood.
Can I take it with a multivitamin?
Add up the combined vitamin A first. The total is what matters.
With a prescription retinoid?
Ask the doctor who prescribed it. Retinoids are vitamin A derivatives.
Are there side effects?
Most report none. Mild stomach upset, bright yellow urine from surplus B vitamins, and the sweetness are what get mentioned.
Can teenagers take it?
No. It is formulated for adults over eighteen.
What should make me stop?
Any rash, swelling or breathing difficulty. Headaches, blurred vision or unexplained aching in the bones and joints are also worth acting on, since each can point to a vitamin A total that has climbed too high across everything you take.
7 Questions

5 Questions
Refunds

Are opened bottles accepted?

How do I start a return?
